Freaky Boy 1

Jonathan Toole is a sophomore art student at the University of Mississippi. The recent passing of his father, an internationally renowned civil rights attorney, has left him severely depressed. During the day, he spooks the locals and alienates students with his shaved head and spray-painted hair. One troublesome night, as Jon is battling his demons, he discovers a spiritual bond with his beloved cat, Una. The insight bolsters his self-esteem as he deals with the past. Jonathan meets up with a fiery Irish barista, rescues cats, and discovers the life-affirming fire within him.

Freaky Boy 2

Jonathan is fascinated by a barista at the coffee shop. He was told once that she was labelled a troublemaker. Toole is reminded that his father, an internationally renowned civil rights attorney, was called that as well. He relives his father’s last days, and we find Jon lays the blame for his father’s fall in court at the feet of his rival. Jon pulls himself out of the regret and grief to engage in an awkward conversation with the barista. At one point, the barista, one Bebe Beauregard, frustratingly calls Jon Freaky Boy. They are both shocked. Back at home, as Jonathan lies in euphoric limpness, the two cats talk of their fear that their “boy” might be slipping back into a coma-like depression. Essie is off to the kitchen for a drink when she hears a rat. She discovers Ratso behind an air duct cover, mocking her.

Freaky Boy 3

Jonathan is ticking through his multiple-choice exam until he recalls the barista. Meanwhile, at home, the able-bodied rescues have a plan to kill Ratso. Essie tracked the demon down to an air duct that leads to the crawl space beneath the house, and the way down there is through a cut rectangle that originally held a register. In the fury upon gaining access this way, Essie slips and falls into the abyss. Meanwhile, at the coffee house, Jonathan meets up with an old friend.
