Our new modernity has more images than words. And painting started it all. The whiteness of a page can be held together with a lattice of lines or icons. Both are acceptable now.

If we can find a way to fuse both writing and today’s contemporary iconography, it would help us to have a broader emotional connection. Even if it’s just a way to understand where we are right now,

I learned to paint by watching my father. He was the painter. He drew and painted since childhood, and later attended The Art Students League and then New York University for Art Education. And he was bent on expressionism, especially German Expressionism. I share this obsession. I find Otto Dix and George Grosz’s passion exhilarating because of their disgust of violence.
